Advent is the four weeks before Christmas. It is the season of waiting patiently for Jesus to come.
In our waiting, we join Christians from all over the world and all throughout time. We join Christians who lived long ago, all the way back to Jesus' birth, 2000 years ago. We are also joining people who lived before Jesus was born. People who lived thousands of years before Jesus was born, all the way back to the beginning of recorded history. Those people were waiting for Jesus to come for the first time. We are waiting for Jesus to come again. All of history is involved in waiting and that's what Advent celebrates - our patience and hope for the arrival of something that is so very important and so very real.
